Choosing the Correct Orthodontist

So you see all the movie stars with their perfectly aligned teeth, and you may wonder, why are not my teeth like that!? Well, let me tell you, they were not that lucky and had perfect teeth. Most of them look for cosmetic dentistry!

People in general look for our orthodontist in NE Calgary to enhance their smiles. Celebrities undergo cosmetic dental procedures to improve their dental pieces, including orthodontic treatment.

If you are looking for an orthodontist near you, you may visit our dental clinic at your best convenience to see all the types of braces we offer. And, most importantly, we have a team of orthodontists that have the experience to align even the most severe misalignments.

How Do I Choose a Good Orthodontist?

We suggest that you carefully choose your orthodontist. Sometimes, people undergo orthodontics with general dentists, and while they can do it, they are not specialists.

A specialist takes three additional years after dental school to prepare even more. Orthodontists have more practice and experience correcting smiles because of it, so we suggest always looking for a specialist.

You can ask your doctor where they did their master’s degree in orthodontics or check out the dental office for diplomas and certificates. Also, nowadays, social media is essential. You can look them up online to see their cases. You can also ask for patients’ testimonies.

Ask for the Boards

Asking if your orthodontist passed the boards is vital because you will know if they have that bonus compared to other dentists. Approving these exams shows commitment and excellence.

Detail the Dental Office

A modern dental space indicates the team is up-to-date. An ideal dental office has digital radiographs, CBCT, scanners. All of these make the treatment easy and more comfortable for the patient.

Types of Braces

1. Clear Braces (Invisalign)

There are many types of braces. Nowadays, our orthodontist in NE Calgary uses Invisalign a lot! It is a popular and aesthetic system.

Invisalign is an orthodontic system that consists of wearing transparent trays for moving teeth into their correct position.

Our doctor will scan your mouth with a digital scanner (say goodbye to the annoying putty!) and design your treatment from start to finish. You will be able to see the final results.

They will provide you with numbered aligning trays, and you will change them at home every two weeks. You must wear them almost all day (at least 22 hours a day) for the treatment to advance. If you keep the discipline and attend to your regular orthodontic checkups, you can be ready in 18 months, although time will vary depending on the severity of your case.

Look for a trained orthodontist in Invisalign. Most doctors only use this system for simple cases, but nowadays, if the professional knows what to do, they can solve severe biting issues.

2. Fixed Braces

These are the traditional braces you imagine when thinking of orthodontics. They are brackets your doctor bonds on the front of your teeth. Depending on the self-ligating factor, they will have elastics or not.

Traditional ones contain a wire that joins them together and keeps them in place with elastics. Self-ligating ones lack bands because the brackets have a compartment that opens and locks the wire in.

You can choose the material of these brackets. Metallic ones are the least expensive but the ones that show the most. They are also in ceramic (tooth-colored), and self-ligating ones tend to be Safire and smaller, so they exert less pressure on your dentition and are more low-profile than the others.
